India - Volunteering

Volunteering in India will give you the chance to live and work in a country with over a billion people, speaking fifteen hundred languages and dialects. This is a great opportunity to experience the Indian culture by living with an Indian family, while gaining valuable work and travel experience.

India is a heaven for travellers and it offers an entire civilisation to explore. Travellers come to India for its wealth of sights, cultural exuberance, diversity of terrain and in search of that special something extra, that only India promises and delivers. This is the land of colour, the land of excitement, the land where people live with variety and thrive on diversity. Mud huts and mansions face off across modern city streets. Lurid luxury and limp living are inhabitants of the same lane. India has many races, cultures and religions quilted together in a single string. There are various types of volunteer placements available such as teaching in schools for slum children in Chandigarh city, teaching mentally challenged children in Chandigarh, doing office work at INPA International Portage office in Chandigarh or travelling on work and meeting rural people in Punjab and Haryana state on health projects of REEDS and many more.

Why India needs you as a volunteer

With over 30% of Indians living below the poverty line, the country needs your volunteer services. The various NGO’s work for social development and upliftment, and they struggle to keep their projects staffed with trained and committed volunteers. These non -profit organisations have meagre resources, and they rely on volunteers to sustain their projects.

Our Participants Speak / Testimonials

Emma - UK

"When people comment to me on how wonderful it is for me to volunteer in Chandigarh , I'm quick to point out that I always receive much more than I give. Children provide such tremendous lessons in courage, inspiration, perseverance, and positive attitudes. In my 2 years as a volunteer, when programme is over I always come home grateful for the opportunity to be around these wonderful kids"
