Please use this link to open programme description
How long is the programme for?
The minimum stay is 3 months, although you can choose to stay for up to 12 months.
What will I be supposed to do as a language assistant?
You will spent about 15 hours a week, from Monday to Friday, tutoring the host family in the language that you speak.
Will I be paid for tutoring?
No. You will receive accommodation and daily meals in return for your tutoring.
Can I find a second job?
Yes, you can find a second job to help your finances as long as it does not colide with your tutoring arrangements. Your placement must be your priority.
Do I need to speak Spanish?
Being able to speak Spanish would be a bonus but is not a requirement. You will be expected to communicate in your mother tongue and in fact, many of the host families prefer if you do not speak Spanish. It will improve their language skills. With time you are likely to pick up some Spanish anyway.
Can I choose the location?
80 % of participating host families live in or around Madrid, while the rest live in areas like Santander, Leon, Granada, Gijon, etc. You can request a specific location, however it cannot be guaranteed. Global Choices will do their best to honour your request.
Will I have my own room?
Yes, you will receive your own room. You will be responsible for keeping it clean and tidy. You should respect the rules of the host family.
Do I need a Visa to go to Spain?
If you are EU national, you do need Visa for Spain. If you are not, you need to check whether you need a Visa at the Spanish Embassy or consular office in your country.
